Surfers Paradise comes alive at night; the streets are lined with loads of restaurants and trendy cocktail bars. The night markets along the foreshore are always a great place to take a wander; they are on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5pm until 10pm and are filled with unique art and crafts.

If you like to explore nature you can take a drive just 12kms off the highway out to the Currumbin rock pools. The rock pools are local favourite to take a swim in the crystal clear water coming down from the mountain or a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic. The rock pools aren’t patrolled so you will need to keep a close eye on the children. There are mini rapids and waterfalls for the whole family to enjoy. There are also some great grassy areas perfect for a game of cricket and some walking tracks.

Lamington National Park is a fantastic place to enjoy a scenic drive. Around 45 minutes out through Nerang brings you to this magical area. There is free lorikeet feeding; guided tours and treetops walk through the rainforest canopy. The rainforest walk features nine suspension bridges with the highest section 30 metres off the ground with a ladder up to a viewing platform.

Burleigh Headland is also another spot, which is a great day out that doesn’t cost anything and is right in the heart of the coast. You don’t even need a car to get here you can catch a local bus or even cycle. There are a few scenic walking tracks up through the rainforest, which are varying distances suitable for all fitness levels. If the weather suits you can take a swim at the patrolled surf beach or at the bottom of the headland in Tallebudgera Creek. Tallebudgera Creek has no waves and is a popular spot for paddle boarding, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking.

If you have smaller children there is an awesome park complete with a giant pirate ship on the estuary right between Palm Beach and Currumbin. The estuary is the perfect place to enjoy a swim afterwards and there is also a Dune café to enjoy a coffee while the kids play.
